Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce says the injuries to Chris Samba and Benni McCarthy are not in any way serious and were merely knocks.

Rovers are already a bit shafted when it comes to strikers as Jason Roberts and Roque Santa Cruz are both out so there were fears that Rovers might have another two out but these fears have been unfounded.

Both should be good to go against Pompey at the weekend in a game that will seal Rovers safety if they win.

Allardyce, speaking to the Rovers offical website – ‘They are knocks more than serious injuries, Benni kicked the bottom of somebody’s boot and Chris felt something on the bridge of his foot.

‘Rather than continue to run around and get more bleeding in that area and make the bruising more severe than it is we brought them off.’

Bit of good news for you on this bank holiday Monday.
