Spence Remains At Rovers

Jordan Spence is continuing to undergo a trial with Blackburn Rovers with a permanent signing still possible.

Gary Bowyer is enjoying having the former West Ham United defender around and confirmed on Monday that he’ll continue to train with us as it benefits all concerned, however, Carlos Cuellar is “exploring other options” as is goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown who had also been training with us recently an offer of a possible deal has come in for him.

It’s sounding like Bowyer is interested in doing a deal with Spence to increase our defensive options.

Bowyer told The Lancashire Telegraph: “We’re not blessed with many defenders and it’s been a good opportunity for us to have a look at Jordan.

“He’s been up all week and we need to see him in another game. Hopefully we can get that sorted and take it from there.

Financial Fair Play ruling make it difficult for us to do too much more business in the summer transfer window, however, Bowyer is still hopeful that a deal or two can come about because as good as Yann Songo’o and Jack O’Connell could potentially be for Rovers they’re both lacking in experience and someone with more experience is needed at the back. Spence is hardly overly experience but is experienced enough to be a good signing in my honest opinion.

Another player leaving with help with the FFP, however, we still await conformation that Ruben Rochina has completed his transfer to Granada having passed a medical with the Spanish side on Sunday.
