The Emotions of a Rovers fan…

Blackburn Fans have been through it all over the last 24 months. Whilst the common term is a ‘roller-coaster ride’, I prefer to resemble it to the large slide’s often found at shows and fairs, as apart from the odd run of ‘decent’ results, it has all been downhill.

So I take you through the 6 stages of emotions most Rovers fans have/are experiencing

Stage 1) Frustration

With all the failed promises and lies told by Venky’s and Kean, Rovers fans were left frustrated. Why us? Why couldn’t we just continue on our own roller coaster, enjoying a mid table run, the odd victory over one of the big boys and a cup run which ultimately saw us fall to Aston Villa. Stage 1 has long gone for many Rovers fans, regardless of whether you are a protester or not.

Stage 2) Hope

All it required was a few half decent singings, a shining light and the man they call the Yak and it gave Rovers supporters that touch of hope. Hope that we could avoid a relegation battle and possibly even return to our very own roller coaster. For some, the hope was off the field as the rumours of a possible takeover by a Qatari consortium might just have turned the roller coaster ride into something more promising…

Stage 3) Despair

For those with little concerns for what has happened off the pitch, and avoided protesting, despair has come across via a succession of poor results ensuring Rovers are rank outsiders to remain in the Premier League. Poor performances are just the beginning as players fail to turn up on a weekly basis whilst ‘The Bald One’ continues to prove exactly how good he is as a manager.

For the protesters, the despair was off the field. The takeover talk disappeared as quick as it arrived, whilst protests continued to have little impact. Meetings with Rovers power brokers never happened whilst the media decided to turn on the Ewood Faithful, to an extent blaming the supporters for Blackburn’s struggles

Stage 4) Acceptance of Relegation

Personally, this is where I fall, and from what I perceive via social media, where the majority currently are at. The ones who are still confident of staying up, lets just say I wish I shared your optimism. It is time to be realistic, we are 2 games behind and have 0 momentum. Players don’t want to play, manager does not know how to manage and a tough run home.

Stage 5) Late Hope

Their will be one more twist in the tale. 3 points against Norwich and a result or two our way will renew our optimism. Tottenham will then come along. From memory, our record is not healthy, but if we cannot pinch a point against Spurs it will be a winner takes all encounter against Wigan. Thats if we are not already long gone by then.

Stage 6) The Aftermath

First of all, I don’t condone violence. However, I do fear that things might just turn nasty. Chelsea last up, regardless of whether our fate is sealed by then or not, if it all continues to go as horrible as it has been, then Steve Kean might just need that security guard, plus more. The same must be said for those failing on the board at Ewood Park, as well as the owners.

And if the fans don’t get there first, the FA will find reason to, and it is much easier to sanction a Championship club as it is to a Premier League Club.

Now I only hope that stage 6 turns into

Stage 6B) MIRACLE, ROVERS STAY UP

But I’m still at stage 4….
