Lee Carsley’s return to Ewood Park with Brentford saw the former Blackburn Rovers midfielder’s side go away with a point from a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.

Blackburn went behind when Lasse Vibe put Brentford ahead, however, Rovers secured a point when Tom Lawrence’s effort was able to sneak past Bees goalkeeper David Button to see a point gained.

Gary Bowyer felt (and in his opinion for the first time this season) Rovers didn’t start the match well with this resulting in the opening goal for Brentford, which could’ve been defended better but in the end a draw was a fair result.

He told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: “It was a very hard-fought point.

“They’ve come here off the back of a run of four wins on the trot before their midweek loss to Hull, so they’ve been playing ever so well.

“We didn’t start well today which is probably the first time this season we’ve done that which is surprising, it just seemed flat and then we conceded a goal that we should have dealt with better.

Both sides had chances with the Rovers belief growing after Leciester City loanee Lawrence managed to see his cross/shot end up in he back of the net to draw us level with both goalkeepers called into action.

However, it was Brentford’s goalkeeper Button making a world class save to keep Rovers out in the second half that might’ve brought us all three points.

He added: “The goal from Lawrence then gave us more confidence and a bit more belief.

“In the second half I felt we had more of a go at it and but for a world class save from their goalkeeper we could have been talking about a great victory.

Bowyer believes we can now go into the International break in a positive frame of mine and look to build on this unbeaten run (well really go and kick on as he put it) when the SkyBet Championship resumes.

The Rovers Manager also said: “It was a hard-fought game, chances were minimal for both teams

“We always look at the positives and we are three unbeaten. We’ve got to build the momentum and when we come back off this break really go and kick on.

A home win is always preferred (which we’ve not seen nearly enough of this season), however, Brentford had won four of the last five matches they’d played with Championship leaders Hull City the only side to beat them in the last six so this isn’t a bad result with Carsley’s spell with The Bees seeing him named the Manager of the Month for October ahead of this match.
