Blackburn Rovers have finally got around to rubberstamping Gary Bowyer as the new permanent manager of the club.

Gary actually succeeded where others failed last season by making a group of overpaid misfits and hard working youngsters look a competent, oiled machine at times and has been appointed off the back of two good mini-spells as an emergency stand in.

Bowyer has actually been with the club within the Reserve and Youth system for just under a decade and has signed a 12 month rolling deal at the club (yes, a sensible financial decision, what are the odds?).

Managing Director and court appointed renegade of all things Rovers Derek Shaw stated on Rovers official website – ‘In the two spells as caretaker manager Gary achieved approaching two points a game.

‘He has the respect of the players and we feel his in-depth knowledge of working with the youngsters will be of great benefit to Rovers.

‘He is held in high regard in football and we certainly wish him all the best going forward.’

Bowyer himself seems chuffed to bits and has called on the players to finally pull their finger out and match the passions shown in the stands.

The new permanent Rovers manager told the official site – ‘It is a huge honour and a proud moment for me.

‘I have been at the club for nine years, I know the traditions. The foundation of the club was built on hard work and that is what we need to produce.

‘The supporters want to see the players out there playing for the shirt and giving it their all. We need the players to show the same passion that the fans gave us during our last six games where we just lost the once.’
