Bowyer under no pressure to sell big

Gary Bowyer has insisted that the club are under no pressure to sell their star players, despite looming fears of Financial Fair Play regulations that are set to come into play next season.

With the club again expected to post a substantial (if not as epic as last season’s) loss in the next set of company accounts, Rovers will again need to spend the summer shedding large portions of a bloated and largely poorly spent wage bill – with the likes of DJ Campbell, Leon Best and a whole host of unwanted loan players set to return to the club to stink the place out.

But Bowyer has moved early to reassure Rovers fans that the club won;t be under pressure to sell the players they want to keep, with the likes of Jordan Rhodes springing immediately to mind.

“I`ve got a trip planned to India but there`s no indication from the owners at all that we`ve got to sell any of our assets,’ Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“We`ve got to trim the squad, that`s for sure, and there are additions I`d like to bring to the team.

“We will work very hard to make sure we have a good summer.”

It will however be a long summer with the constant ‘Rhodes to insert club here’ media reports.
