Rovers announced the winners of two player awards prior to the final game of the season on Saturday.

Prior to Rovers excellent 4-3 win over Wigan, Tom Cairney was announced as the player of the season – voted for by fans of the club on the official website and other mediums such as twitter.

Cairney, who capped off an excellent personal first season for the club since signing from Hull City, even managed to celebrate by getting on the scoresheet in the victory – which extended Rovers unbeaten run to 12 games.

And Jason Lowe’s only ever goal for Rovers was crowned as the winner of the goal of the season with his excellent arrowing strike at home to Middlesbrough awarded the accolade of the season’s best onion bag rippler.
