Blackburn Rovers ended a seven day period with one win, a loss and a draw from matches against Leeds United, Liverpool and Reading.

I’d say that most would’ve been happy enough with that ahead of the matches?? However (and it’s always easier looking back) we might’ve soon changed the order in which that sequence of results came, with the 0-0 draw at Reading on Saturday afternoon completing that run of results in that order particular order too.

Rovers weren’t able to offer up much goal threat at The Madejski Stadium with the closest we came a Ben Marshall attempt that had goalkeeper Adam Federici scrambling to turn it away. Gary Bowyer was content to take away a clean sheet and a point from this match, however, (for the first time I believe) opting to bemoan the mass pile up of unavailable first team players lacking.

Bowyer said: “We’ve got more or less a team missing because of injuries and these players are doing ever so well.

“To come away from home and keep a clean sheet is a massive positive.

Do we have anything to play for now this season?? Most people share the opinion that we don’t!! Not Bowyer though as the Rovers Manager believes there’s still plenty to play for and praised the mental strength shown and the fact that we showed real resilience

Adding: “We’ve still got plenty to play for this season, 100 per cent. Our players are honest and they want to improve.

“People now judge your character, the end of the season tests your mental strength and our players showed that today.

“We stood up to the challenge. We dug in and showed real resilience.

Something I’m struggling to understand the thinking is the fact that in spite of our injuries Bowyer continues to persists with senior players and isn’t giving any of our younger players such as Darragh Lenihan and John O’Sullivan a chance?? I don’t understand why we recalled them from successful loans with other clubs (where they were playing regularly) if we’re not going to give them a chance, we would’ve been better off leaving them where they were!!
