Former Blackburn Rovers Manager Michael Appleton has returned to management for the first time since leaving Ewood Park.

Appleton came to Ewood from Blackpool early in 2013 (having rejected a previous chance to become our Manager) after just two-months in charge at Bloomfield Road!! He didn’t last much longer with us as he was dismissed after just fifteen matches in charge!!

His highlight of the short time he spent as our Manager was easily the FA Cup Fifth Round win over Arsenal, there weren’t too many other highlights really during his sixty-seven days in charge but he’ll definitely be looking for happier memories when he returns to the dugout with League 2 side Oxford United.

In my honest opinion having basically failed with Portsmouth, Blackpool and Rovers this has to be the final crack at carving out a successful career as a Manager for the 38-year-old who hasn’t achieved what was expected of him when he was highly rated as a coach with West Bromwich Albion, maybe he’s one of them that’s better in that area??
