Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for April.

Gestede scored six goals from six starts and is back to match sharpness.

He scored a hat-trick of headers in the 4-2 victory at Birmingham City.

Rovers manager Gary Bowyer said: “Rudy has been a fantastic signing for us.

“As a person, he is top class. He has played a massive part for the team with some very impressive performances. His goals have been the icing on the cake.

“He works hard to improve his game and he is only going to get better.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Rudy has finished the season strongly and scored plenty of goals.

“Rudy’s form and a developing partnership with the prolific Jordan Rhodes has put smiles back on the faces of the Rovers fans.”

Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins said: “Rudy Gestede’s efforts this month have helped Blackburn to get within a chance of qualifying for the Play-Offs with one game remaining.

“He has made a fantastic impact after signing a permanent deal in November with 11 goals now for the Lancashire side.”

The Sky Bet Player of the Month judging panel includes Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman, Football League Head of Communications John Nagle, League Managers’ Association director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Head of Football Paul Wiggins.
