Rovers left back Tommy Spurr has been playing a medical blinder by all accounts as manager Gary Bowyer has rated him as a ‘possible’ for the weekend’s trip to the South coast.

Spurr was injured in the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at the weekend, with the initial blow deemed bad enough that the Rovers boss had hime down as a minor lay off of about two weeks.

But despite initial fears, Spurr has responded well to his treatment and could be in line to preserve his perfect playing record so far this season by making the line up on Saturday.

“He`s looked after himself unbelievably well and done everything right so he`s given himself a great chance of being back quicker than we thought, which is magnificent,” Bowyer told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“I don`t know if the Brighton game will come too early for him but we`re certainly not ruling him out at this stage, that`s for sure.

“Full credit to him for how he`s been since the injury happened. He`s followed the advice of the medical team to a tee.

“He`s a top pro and I can`t praise him enough for the way he`s looked after himself.”

Spurr has rightly come in for some praise this season after early fears of him being sub-standard from a small section of the Rovers support were quickly put to rest via some competent displays at left back.

Quick he may not be, but he is a tidy player and fully committed to the cause.
