Striker Backed To Reach 20

Jordan Rhodes hasn’t scored as freely for Blackburn this season as he has previously but he’s still on target to score 20-goals this season, having taken his total to 18 with a goal on Tuesday.

A mistake by Birmingham ‘keeper Darren Randolph presented him with an empty goal to finish into to put Blackburn ahead once again at St Andrew’s but we couldn’t hold in that draw. He’s been backed, with what he told the Official Website, by Gary Bowyer to make 20.

Rhodes, like all good strikers, was in the right place at the right time to capitalise on this opportunity so with four-matches left this season you would ‘expect’ him to have enough chances, and take them, to get at least two more.

‘He was Johnny on the spot tonight. He took it well because he could have rushed it, but he didn’t, he was composed.

‘That is 18 for the season now from him, that is what he is about.

‘We want him to continue doing that and the next four games are going to provide him with that opportunity to reach 20 goals.’

The bigger question now though I suppose is will Bowyer be at Ewood Park again next season so score as many goals, if he is ideally more, next time round to add to his impressive goalscoring record?
